UNM Tampere 2020: music ecology

2020-08-24 to 2020-08-29

Ung Nordisk Musik (UNM) is a festival of contemporary music and sound art that is organised in turn by each Nordic country. UNM was established in 1946, making it one of the oldest festivals of its kind in the world. The works presented at the festival are created by composers and sound artists, mostly under 30 years old, who are based in the Nordic countries. The festival has no central artistic curator. Each country has an independent jury that selects the works. The result is a varied insight into the current Nordic art music scene.

The festival ‘UNM Tampere 2020: music ecology’ will take place in Tampere from August 24th to 29th 2020 with special measures.

UNM has made a collective decision to refrain from international travels to Tampere due to the risks caused by the current pandemic. The decision was taken collectively by the UNM boards in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Iceland. Instead, all UNM-countries will partake in arrangements to bring the festival events to the international UNM community as a virtual festival. UNM Finland will organize the festival concerts to accommodate both the local Tampere audience as well as the remote audience.
