The International Composition Competition “Music and Nature” - 1st edition

The  City  of  Sassello (northwestern Italy) announces the first edition of
the International Composition Competition “Music and Nature”.

RULES

ART. 1
The  International  Composition  Competition  “Music and Nature” is open to
composers  of any nationality and any age. Compositions must be unpublished
and   never   performed   before  nor  awarded  in  any  other  composition
competitions.

ART. 2
The  theme of the competition is the relationship between music and nature.
Participants can send score for trio B clarinet, cello and piano (or duo or
solo  instrument).  The  absence  of  the  voice  is the challenge that the
artists  should  grasp  in an effort to decline the subject provided by the
announce  of  the  competition  with  only  instrumental  means.  They can,
however, refer to a text in a purely descriptive and generic way. It is not
allowed  in  anyway  electronic  processing.  The  compositions must have a
duration  of  3  to  10 minutes. There is no limit on the number of works a
composer  may submit. However, each piece must be accompanied by a separate
submission form and fee

ART.  3  For each entry Composers must pay a non-refundable application fee
of € 30,00 to the following bank account number

The  reason  of  the  payment  must  be clearly identified as International
Composition Competition «Music and Nature», Sassello 2016.

ART.  4  Composers must submit 3 (three) copies of the composition, each of
them  marked  with  a  motto  on the first page and without the name of the
composer.  Scores will not be returned. The motto will be shown on a sealed
envelope in which are contained:
     curriculum vitae and photo of the composer;
     a statement that the work submitted is unpublished and that it has
     never been performed in public concerts and has never been awarded in
     any contest;
     Receipt of the payment of the entry fee (art. 3).

     The  envelope will be open only at the end of the work of the jury in
     order  to  know  the  identity  of the winners and inform them of the
     evaluation.

The  composition/s  must  be  postmarked  no  later  than  June  10,  2016.
Applications  postmarked  after  this  date will not be considered. Score/s
will not be returned.

ART. 5
Prizes:
     1° prize:
     Premiere of the composition (july 2016 in Sassello)
     The  composition  will be published by Sconfinarte Edizioni Musicali,
     Milano
     Participation medal
     2° prize:
     Premiere of the composition (july 2016 in Sassello)
     Participation medal

ART.  6  The jury’s decision is final. The jury reserve the right not award
any  of  the  prizes  if  they  consider  that  no submitted works meet the
required standard.

ART.  7  The  winning  composer/s will be notified via email in June, 2016.
Winner composer/s will send the part of their work/s as soon as possible.

ART.  8  Participation  in  this  competition  implies  the  automatic  and
unconditional  acceptance  of  the  contestants of all the rules set out in
this announcement.
