Clarinet Quintet "Whims and Wizardry" / Jörgen Dafgård / 2024-09-02 19:00

Together with the Alma Quartet, the French clarinetist Samuel Berthod, now residing in Sweden, will open the 2024/25 season of the Lund Chamber Music Society with a program featuring Jörgen Dafgård’s Clarinet Quintet Whims and Wizardry among other works. The concert takes place at Magle Konserthus in Lund on Monday 2 September at 7 pm. The program also features Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet in A Major KV 581 as well as music by Korngold and soloist Samuel Berthod. The Alma Quartet consists of Malin Nyström and Anna Rosén on violin, Linda Fredriksson on viola and Ann-Kersti Goa on cello.

Whims and Wizardry was written in 2012 for the Stöde Music Week, where it was premiered by ARD-prizewinner Sebastian Manz and a star-straddled international string quartet. In 2013 Whims and Wizardry was nominated for the Swedish Music Publishers Prize in the chamber music cathegory and in the following two years it was performed in concert by Stefan Harg and the Dahlkvist Quartet as well as Samuel Berhod and the Weber Quartet. Whims and Wizardry is written in four movements.
