I-Park’s 2015 Environmental Art Program
I-Park is pleased to announce that it will be hosting its fifth international, multi-disciplinary Environmental Art Biennale on Sunday, September 20, 2015: Ephemeral Art in the Landscape. The event will be preceded by a 3-week residency that begins on August 31. This residency session will be devoted exclusively to those artists creating works for the exhibition. In the interest of offering some scheduling flexibility, a very limited number of invited artists may be offered the option of creating their pieces earlier in 2015 – so long as they agree to return for the Biennale in September at their own expense and can guarantee that their installations will be in excellent condition for the exhibition.
I-Park views environmental art as a multi-disciplinary, multi-sensory field – at its most impactful when the works are created and experienced in-situ. The terms ‘environment’ and ‘environmental’ are construed broadly to encompass the various aspects of the project site: natural, built, social – and sensitive to the various dimensions of time. All works for this program must be ephemeral in character and intensely site-responsive.

- Inter- and multi-disciplinary practice
Program Structure
- 12 – 15 artists will be selected to participate
- A stipend of between $2,200 and $3,000 will be awarded depending upon particular travel circumstances (see FAQ, page 2, for details)
- Collaborating teams are welcome to apply but the team leader is responsible for all aspects of participation, including sharing of the artist’s stipend
- Lodging, food program, limited local transportation provided during the program
- Staff support/expertise, workshop space and a generous selection of tools, equipment and materials are readily available
While no individual materials budgets are offered, the program itself has a limited budget for such and management will use its discretion to disburse (this is in addition to the free materials on site)
Ineligible to participate: artists who participated in the 2013 Environmental Art Program and artists participating in the 2015 General Residency Program (while you are welcome to apply to both 2015 programs, if selected, you would only be allowed to participate in one)
$30 application fee to defer the costs associated with the selection/curatorial function
