Lina Nyberg (born in Stockholm 1970) is one of Sweden’s best known and most widely performed jazz singers and composers. She also composes chamber music and orchestral music and has since her debut in 1990s been into a multi-genre path, always exploring the border country inbetween jazz, improv, classical and experimental. Graduated from The Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm in 1993 and finished a Master in Composition in 2020.
Lina’s hallmark is the urge to explore and create new musical continents and develop and investigate what innovation means regardless genre.
Through the work with music, as a composer and touring artist, the 20 albums she produced and also the work with equality in music with www.impra.se she has received a lot of recognition in Sweden and abroad. Her collaborations with NorrlandsOperan Symphony Orchestra, Vindla String Quartet, Norrbotten Big Band, Bohuslän Big Band and Uppsala Chamber Soloist among others have made a great impact on the contemporary music scene in Sweden.
She has recieved the Royal Academy of Music jazz prize 2016, Lars Gullin prize 2014, Bert Levins foundation 2014, Swedish Radio- Musician of the year 2011, Swedish Grammis 1995 among others. The album Terrestrial as well as Aerials was nominated to a Swedish Grammis and Manifestprize and Lina was nominated to Swedish Radio-“Composer of the year award” 2015.
