Call for scores

PLATYPUS ENSEMBLE & NEW MUSIC GROUP

2015-02-15

Composers out there! We are looking for works meeting the following criteria:

- only trios for Fl. Vl. and Pno., no subsets
- maximum 5-7 minutes (shorter pieces ok)
- feasible without a conductor
- electronics possible

We will select up to four works to be performed multiple times in the 2015/2016 concert seasons, starting with one concert on May 9th, 2015 in Vienna. We are aiming to create a concert programme to present at festivals and various occasions like that.Selected pieces will be recorded.

Please do send the material to platypus.or.at@gmail.com until February 15th, 2015.

Other than calling for scores, we are happily organising stuff for the events of March 7th and 8th – when under the mark X: Groove will finally hit the stage and hijack your mind. Dance dance dance, with all music history somewhere beneath and all contemporary music techniques at hand. Exciting times, every approach we see now is entirely different from all the others, so if you are in Vienna at the time, be sure to be there!

–> March 7th & 8th, Echoraum, Sechshauserstraße 66, A-1150 Vienna, 8 p.m. (also take a look at the Echoraum website).

The evenings will be lovely and really diverse, as there will be pieces by our friends Sophie Pope, Alessandro Baticci, Florian Willeitner, Thomas Wally, ka’mi, AngélicaCastelló, Roland Freisitzer, Johannes Berauer, Jakob Gnigler, Margareta Ferek-Petric, Arturo Fuentes, Anahita Abassi, Jesse Broekman, Slobodan Kajkut, Ye Hui…and probably many others (composers are sphinxes sometimes) as well as Platypus’ own Simon Vosecek, Fernando Riederer and Hannes Dufek. Plus, there will bebeaucoup de surprises, mes amis, and lots and lots of beautiful, wonderful people.Blood. On the Dancefloor!

In the meantime, while you are waiting for the time to turn into March, you could listen to our wonderful recordings still available at col-legno. Nineteen pieces by young composers from all over the world, a real rare thing. : Platypus at col-legno - enjoy!
