3. CUBA SESSIONS – November 2017 Recording and Cultural Exchange

PARMA will be returning to Havana, Cuba this November for a week of recording and cultural activities.  We are accepting submissions for scores of choral, jazz/jazz-influenced works, and chamber works. We will also be attending the Festival de Música Contemporánea which will feature performances of music by PARMA composers. The program lasts for one week and features masterclasses with Cuban musicians, tours of Havana and environs, and much more.

Since our initial visit to Cuba in the spring of 2015, this groundbreaking Cuban initiative has been met with international appeal – our composers have received global press for their music and numerous opportunities for our Cuban musicians have opened as well. Here is a cross-section of the work we did in the country to cultivate this artistic and cultural exchange:

We are interested in contemporary compositions that combine jazz and classical idioms, written for chamber or jazz (combo or big band) groups, as well as choral and vocal works and pieces that could be arranged by our team for traditional Cuban instruments.
